Quarry Road is a year-round outdoor recreation destination for people of all ages, abilities and walks of life from the greater Waterville area, across Maine and beyond.
The area offers 10.4 km (6.5 miles) of world-class groomed Nordic ski trails, and additional miles of backcountry snowshoe and hiking trails. Our state-of-the-art snowmaking system ensures an early start to the ski season and reliable snow conditions all winter.
Quarry Road Recreation Area is owned and operated by the City of Waterville Department of Parks & Recreation.

Current Trail Conditions
With the recent snow, we've been able to open additional terrain. The Riverside Loop, North Koons, South Koons, and some locations in the meadows have been rolled and have decent coverage.. The current snowmaking loop (Pine Tree Connectors, part of Charlie's Meadow Inner Loop) has been groomed and fresh track has been set.
Trail passes, rentals, snacks, and information are available at the Quarry Road Welcome Center yurt daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than a mile of trail is lit for night skiing until 9 p.m. daily. If you're skiing off-hours, it's on the honor system; you can deposit payment in the green canister at the kiosk trailhead.
Friends of Quarry Road thanks our 2017 gold sponsors for making this season possible:
