Winter Trail Conditions
Services
Our trails are open and groomed seven days a week all winter long. Nordic ski trails are open to the public from 8am to 8pm daily. The rope tow is open Saturdays, Sundays, and school vacations from 9am to 3 pm, and Friday evenings from 3pm-7pm.
Trail passes, rentals, and information are available at the Quarry Road Outdoor Center, which is open weekends and holidays from 8am to 4pm., and weekdays from 9am to 3pm during ski season. Please check our Facebook page for operating schedule updates.
All season passes, and Nordic day tickets, may be purchased online. Click here to buy now.
Trail passes may also be purchased at any time from one of the self-serve pay stations located at the Outdoor Center and the south trailhead.
Night skiing: More than a mile of Nordic trail is lit for night skiing until 9pm daily. Lights for night skiing on the rope tow ski hill Friday’s 3pm-7pm.
Fat bikes: Biking is permitted on Nordic ski trails only in hard packed snow conditions. Please use your judgment to keep trails in good condition and safe for all. (If you’re leaving a rut, then the trail surface is too soft and you should not be on that trail.) Bikers using the groomed ski trails must purchase a day ticket or season pass.
Snowshoes: Snowshoeing is permitted on singletrack trails and footpaths, but not on the groomed ski trails. (Except where a singletrack or footpath crosses a ski trail.)
Snowmaking and grooming
Quarry Road’s extensive snowmaking network brings consistent snow conditions to Nordic skiers of all levels. Snowmaking extends up the hill over much of the competition loop which makes for world class Nordic ski conditions close to downtown Waterville.
Our one-of-a-kind snowmaking system ensures that groomed trails will be available for Nordic skiers to enjoy at Quarry Road when no other area has snow for miles! Once snow is on the ground, the trails are groomed daily, creating premier cross-country skiing conditions for both classic and skate skiing.
